Gunpla Workshop - (Organized by Gundam.my)

So we (gundam.my) had collaborate with SITEC and Aladdin.Market on a Gunpla Workshop on the 25th of June 2016. The reason behind having this workshop is that, we thought to ourselves, "hmm, we never seems to see a Gundam class/workshop in Malaysia before". As someone that loves GUNPLA (Gundam Plastic Model/Gundam Model Kit) we've decided to try to open up a workshop and see how people would react towards to this kinda new trend. Side note, Gundam Model Kit wasn't very famous in Malaysia till the infamous Gundam Build Fighter Anime Series came out on the year 2013. It was a series of anime that shows the uniqueness and specialty and also not the mention the focus and time spent on building a nice Gundam Model Kit.

We were very honored that one of the Award Winner, Becky Law was able to be our trainer that day on the workshop. So back to the event, SITEC have provided a beautiful hall for our workshop and it fits up to 40 people in it (actually could have fit more but yea).
Outside of the hall we Gundam.my were setting up the tables and attendance form for all the participants to come in. We were putting up a few Gundam Model Kit on Display for our participants to see the various different types of gundam.
After setting up the booth and everything we started to give out the High Grade(HG) G-self and a set of Plato Side Cutter to our participants. After everything was set, Organizer and founder of Gundam.my give out his speech to the participants.
And right after the speech, the Gunpla Workshop has finally begun! Our trainer Becky Law starts the event by explaining a few things such as the History of Gundam, Gunpla in general and many more.
Participants then start to open up their G-self boxes and inspect everything inside the box, checking for any missing or broken parts.
Becky started out by telling them how to cut the parts properly to create less nub marks on the gunpla itself. she also teaches them usage of the sandpaper to make the plastic smooth.
Parents that brought their children on the other hands, were having their sweet time looking at the nice model kits that we've brought to display and also in search of a few nice model kits to build.
As per package, Aladdin.Market was giving out RM50 voucher to our participants giving them a huge discount on model kits. Model Kits like the G-Self Perfect Pack were sold at the price RM55, after discount was only at the price of RM5. Talk about great deal huh?

Going back into workshop, Becky was also giving out some extra tips for the participants to go an extra mile further such as teaching them how to make a sanding stick, how to make a knife to do scribing (make extra panel lines for gunpla) and many more.
At the end of the event, we personally felt it turn out well. Although we didn't have a perfect ending, participants seems happy and quite fond of the event. After receiving our feedback form we got the rating of 4/5. One of our participants commented "The price is reasonable considering the content and materials provided and it's cool to have someone with experience to share their skills and tips with us". Our participants also rated our trainer Becky Law a big 4/5. Considering it was the first time we have this kind of event. the results were better than expected.

We Gundam.my Thank you all for Participating the event, it was a memorable day and we hoped you guys learn a little something from our workshop.

Here is the video on what's going on, on the Gunpla Workshop:

Below are the top 10 Selection suggested from Becky for beginners.
Top 10 selection:

Tools:
1. 12 in 1 tools set
Comments:Convenient set for beginner, with essential tools such as cutting mat, cutter, sanding block, sandpaper, part separator, pen knife etc.

2. HG/MG bandai action base
Comments:After some hard work it's time to display your gunpla, this base can support MG and HG. With fly in the air display, your gunpla can have more dynamic pose.

3. Display casing
Comments:Keep your collection away from dust and it even can brighten up your collection with LED.

4. Godhand ultimate cutter
Comments:Highly recommended side cutter, sharp and clean cut, it make the nub mark remove process easier and faster, even reduce the plastic stretch marks during cutting, make your limited edition gunpla look cleaner.

5. Airbrush combo set
Comments:Want to start painting your gunpla? Can start with this compact set, which come with mini compressor, airbrush and moisture trap. Good startup kits for those who want to start on airbrush.

Gunpla
1. HG G-self
Comments:Easy to assemble and fun to build collection. Furthermore, G-reconguista line are having promotion now.

2. MG strike freedom
Comments:One of my favorite mecha. A bit more challenging but those who assemble gunpla before can assemble it with ease. Bandai always come with easy to follow instruction and i believe even beginner will have fun building it.

3. 1/100 Barbatos
Comments:Highly recommended kits with internal skeleton, and high pose-ability.

4. RG 00 Qan(T) Gundam
Comments:New release of the RG series, it's a very nice series in term of detailing and proportion, but it will be more challenging as the size of the parts can be smaller than a push pin.

5. SD EX-Standard Barbatos
Comments:Cute and fun build, kids will love them.

Hello gunpla fans, today I'm gonna do a review on the 1/144 scaled RG 00Qan[T].
Straight out of the box you will get  12 runners and 1 RG foil sticker sheet

What is interesting about RG Qan[T] is that you would have to build the frame first just like RG MK-II. Most RG build started out as building part by part but not the Qan[T].
Voila, that beautiful inner frame. The hands of this kit is actually not from the frame runner, its a seperate build. after build all that you would still have the hands and crotch section on the inner frame runner.
Yep, after all that build you are still left with extra inner frame runners. The gripping hands you have to take it out from the hands runner though.
Assembling the armor~ nothing looks better when it's completed.
Qan[T] completed without weapon and backpack on. Look at how beautiful the kit is. Proportion wise, it's much much better compare to the MG. The downside of this kit, the lack of decals it provide. It looks very empty.

The articulation for The RG Qan[T] is damn good and also rock solid. Usually I personally didn't like RG kit for it's fragile-ness but the RG Qan[T] is damn solid.
That sidekick though~!

There is a gimmick on this kit on the side skirt, Unlike the MG, The side skirt is actually movable. With the MG you cant even spread the leg's properly. Everytime u spread the leg for the MG parts fall apart but the RG, OMG its so good.

Now for the accessories, you will hand 4 different type of hands.
The RG hands, gripping hands, weapon hands and a left open palm. Honestly I wished they given a right open palm as well, that would be quite a good extra as both hands are changable.

Now for the grande finale, the weapons of this kit.
The GN Shield, GN Sword IV and GN Bits.
So far so good. When I saw this kit on the expo, my first question to myself is that, will it be side heavy and lean to the other side. The answer is NO! good job Bandai on fixing the weight issue.

For posing
Very nice.

The 1 thing I'm very proud of this kit is how amazingly strong the hands is. If you build before, what the worst thing we know is that our RG can't it's weapon right BUT THE RG QAN[T]!
No Support and it's holding it like nobody business. This kit is a total beast! If you think I'm lying to you about the angle, think again.
No Support bruhs.
Yep no support.

So far the whole kit I'm not really happy of the lack of Decals but this kit is a damn good kit.
Note: This kit is base on my personal preference.
