Iron Blooded Orphans 1/100 Gundam Kimaris - Review

26-Apr-2016

GUNDAM KIMARIS
(Release Date: Mar 2016 Price: RM117)

What's up everybody, today I'm gonna do a review on the model kit from Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans, 1/100 scaled Gundam Kimaris, one of the 72 frames type Gundam. Straight out of the box the instructions says to build Kimaris Inner Frame. The inner frame for this kit is somewhat similar to the Barbatos. The differences of the inner frame compare to barbatos is on the head section, waist section and the foot section. The rest is more or less the same. Owh the chest section has got a few new connection for Kimaris's armor part.
No matter how many times I see, the frame for Iron Blooded Series is so detailed. I mean it is a totally a step up for the NG gunpla. It's so close to be a MG if they layoff those stickers.
The face of Kimaris somewhat reminds me of Mr.Potato + Susanoo. Haha.

Inner frame's articulation for Kimaris is too good? I mean I can bend the joints almost anywhere I want.
Look at that split! No problem what so ever.
Yep. It has got bloody good articulation due to no restriction to the armor parts.
After assembling all the armor parts you would get something like this.
Tadaa Armor Parts for Gundam Kimaris.
And thus Kimaris Completed.

Although the Gundam Kimaris bulked up a lot after putting on the armor, it's articulation is still somewhat very good
.
Though due to the armor, the Kimaris knee bent is slightly more restricted. Can't do the famous gundam squad ><.
But overall still good articulation.

We got 2 weapon of choice and also 1 huge Kimaris Booster. We the Kimaris Lance, Sword and The booster.
Honestly, The lance is too darn big haha.

Fun Fact,
They give the Kimaris 2 choices, whether the normal Kimaris or the Kimaris Booster.

Well putting on the booster pack... you would need to fiddle around with it so that it can stand up properly but most of the time the result is...
Yep, Falling off the ground. The cool thing is that the back skirt section of this gunpla got a peg to open up the store the sword.

After equiping all the equipments on Kimaris, He stands slightly more easier due to the weight of the lance.

Posing:
\
I forgot to mention, there is a gimmick to open up the leg section to show more of Kimaris's Booster.

VERDICT
PROS
  • Great Articulation
  • Very well designed inner frame
  • Interesting Gimmicks such as the Leg Booster, Shuriken on the shoulder and weapon holder on the back skirt section
  • Can swap a few armor section with another Iron Blooded Kit
  • Very Detailed Panel Lining
  • Reasonable price as it is cheaper than most MG size gunpla.
CONS
  • Armor too heavy, Kimaris can't stand properly with the booster on
  • Armor on the shoulder not very secure.
NOTE: REVIEW is based on personal preference on the gunpla. If you are interested in 1/100 Kimaris Booster, visit www.gundam.my for more info about this product.

HGIBO 1/144 Gundam Barbatos - Review

Hello gunpla fans, today I'm gonna review on the Hg 1/144 Gundam Barbatos, the lead mobile suit from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans. This kit contains of 6 sets of runner, 1 set of polycap and 1 sheet of foil sticker. An average high grade gunpla that a beginner should have no problem building.
This kit is one of the cheapest gunpla ever sold with the market price of 1000 yen. Even with it's cheap price this gunpla comes out as a very nice kit.
This high grade is a rather fast build which takes up only around 1 hour to 1 and half hour build. Simple yet a nice kit. What is interesting about this kit is that for the first time in high grade history, this model contains a inner frame.

The Articulation for this kit is great, double jointed arms gives this gunpla a 180 degree bend and same goes for the leg. Even the toe section of this gunpla is bendable. It even has got ab crunch.
The Articulation for the leg is so good that you can go on a full split with this kit.
You can even do a General Franky Pose with its posability of this kit.

Accessories wise, not much with just only 2 weapons and 2 weapon holder.
Weapon holder is store at the back on the gunpla backpack. You can use it to hold this 2 weapons. My complains is that the backpack attachment isn't really secure and will drop off rather easily when you put weapon on it's backpack.

Photos of gunpla:

Verdict:
Pros
  • The Articulation is best of the best I've seen
  • Very Detailed, The inner frame of the gundam make this kit looks spectacular
  • Weapon looks fantastic especially the Mace, with the addition of the katana looks even better
  • General Franky Pose
  • Dirt Cheap gunpla
  • given 2 choices of hands as Barbatos has many different form
  • Good kit to customize
Cons
  • the sticker.... so many stickers...
  • feels a little fragile
  • require painting to bring out the full potential of this kit

HGIBO 1/144 Gundam Gusion - Review

Gundam Gusion, at first glance I have no interest on this kit all but after building this kit, it gives me a second thought about this kit.First of all this model kit comes with 5 runners, a set of polycap and 1 sheet of foil sticker.
Would definitely recomment this kit to new gunpla beginner as it is a straight forward and simple build. After Assembling you would get something like this.
Simple build yet pack full with panel lining opportunity. My thought on this kit totally change after the assembly as I'm quite impressed with the detail on this kit, would definitely give a 10 out of 10 for the outlook. This kit somewhat reminds me of Kshatriya, well I mean on the chesst section and also the green color on this kit.

For Accessories, we've got Thor's Hammer! I mean Gusion's Hammer and a boring looking rifle. nothing much to say about the weapon's but that hammer is a little too loose for Mr.Gusion's hands to hold. It slips here n there n never in place.

For the sheer bulk of this gundam the articulation for it is actually not bad as it still manage to do a huge split.
That should be around 90 to 100 degree split there, for it's size I must say it is impressive.
That gundam squad though. not bad indeed.

Fun Fact:
They give an attachment on the back of the Gusion to put on the Thor's Hamme eh hem I mean Gusion Hammer behind his back.
Attach this on the back of the gusion and you will get something like this.

Verdict
Pros
  • Good Articulation with the sheer size and bulk of this product
  • Fantastic Detail/ Panel Lining
  • Expose of certain inner frame that shows the similarity of the 72 Gundam Frame Type.
  • Very posable
  • Looks good straight out of the box
Cons
  • Can't hold weapon properly
  • Waist section pops out rather easily

Iron Blooded Orphans 1/100 Schwalbe Graze (McGillis Custom) - Review

Hello Gunpla Fans, today I'm gonna review on the 1/100 scaled McGillis's Schwalbe Graze.
Straight out of the box you would find yourself 12 sets of runner, 1 sets of polycap, 1 sheet of foil sticker and 1 wire.
It's quite a quick build as I've only spend like 2 hours building this kit alone. It's like building a typical high grade model kit with slightly more parts to put in.

Outlook
The inner frame of this kit is nice, the thing I still didn't like about this inner frame is that why can't they provide some grey parts to cover up the yellow part. It's like building the HG kit just instead of using yellow sticker, we use they grey one.
Damn.. really hate those sticker parts.. giving simple piece of plastic would make customer so much happier instead of giving some grey sticker. Though painting it would be nice, but it would definitely make straight builder pissed off with that part.

Putting on the armors.
Color of this kit definitely pops but if you were the one building this kit, you would definitely complain that everything is falling apart right after putting everything on. The thigh section armor falls off easily due to the weight, the claw thingy falls off easily as there is no polycap to support it.
Posing him is never easy as everything feels quite loose everywhere.

Accessories.
The Accessories of this kit looks more or less like the typical Graze. What is additional compare to the normal graze is that the Schwalbe Graze has got a new claw, backback and 2 leg thrusters.
Nice Addition to The Graze. Totally loving the leg thruster but it totally spoilt my mood that the leg armor section keeps falling off.

Articulations
Articulation on this kit is not bad,
Can't do much of a split due to the inner frame on the leg section but the leg is still double jointed so means it can still go 180 degree rotation on the knee section.
Doing the gundam squads like a boss. No issue, easily done.

Pictures (picture not own by me):

Verdict:
Pros
  • It's anime accurate
  • The booster on the shoulder and knee is a huge plus compare to the standard graze
  • Cool additional weapon (claw)
  • Well articulate knee and arms (double jointed)
  • Quite posable
Cons
  • Armor Pieces quite loose on the leg section and the claw section
  • Give sticker instead of plastic parts on the chest section
  • Feels very fragile.
NOTE: Review on this kit is based on my own personal opinion.
