Gundam Build Fighters Season 2 Release Date: 'Gundam Build Fighters: TRY' Coming this Month Anime Fans Awaits

The second season of the much awaited Gundam Build Fighters is set to release this month, October 2014, by TV Tokyo.

Gundam Build Fighters is just one of the many viral anime series in Japan and around the world. The first season aired back in 2013 and is made by Sunrise Studios. The studio is also responsible for the first ever series aired on April 1979 that featured mobile suits carrying the, now, iconic name of Gundam. Ever since, the series took off and a lot of fans fell in love with Gundam. Action figures and collectibles have since then spawned. Every year, Sunrise Studios release a Gundam series. This year, 2014, they will be releasing the second season of Gundam Build Fighters named Gundam Build Fighters: TRY.

An official announcement coming from the official website of Gundam Build Fighters revealed the second season and its plotline.

"Seven years have passed since Sei Iori won the 7th Gunpla Battle Championship World Tournament. The Gunpla Battle Championship is now run by Yajima Trading. With new rules and battle modes, the game's popularity has become even more widespread."

New characters will be introduced and new Gundam suits as well. Sekai Kamiki, a young martial artist who travels with his master, will be piloting the Burning Build Strike Gundam. Another new character, Yuuma Kousaka, who is a young Gunpla builder, will be piloting Zeta Gundam, a Lightning Gundam. Completing the list of the main characters is Fuuma Hishino, the only member of the Gunpla Battle Club in their school. Fuuma Hishino will be piloting the Winning Gundam. Together, they will be called as TRY Fighters from which the second season of Gundam Build Fighters get its subtitle name.

Other fans of the anime speculate that the new characters are closely related, in blood maybe, to the preceding season's old characters.

The second season is set to air this month in the Japanese channel TV Tokyo, where the Naruto, Bleach and Ragnarok The Animation spawned. The Gundam Build Fighters: TRY is said to still have 25 episodes to air, the same as the past Gundam Build Fighters season.

Gundam Build Fighters Try - Becomes a Family Affair

Gundam's remarkably fun model battle spin-off returns October 8th with the sequel Gundam Build Fighters Try. The new series revolves around three-person teams and one of the heroes is Yūma Kousaka (voiced by Yūma Uchida), younger brother of the first season's support character China. While his main mech is the Lighting Gundam, he also has a newly revealed custom "Bearguy F," ('F' as in family) a unique spin on his sister's fan favorite.

Now, is the cub just being cute or is it a secret weapon?!

Another legacy character is Kouroko Sazaki, the no-longer-so-little sister of season 1 minor antagonist Susumu Sazaki. She still worships her big brother and, along with Zeon-cosplaying Team "Vase of the Northern Song Dynasty" brings a custom R-GyaGya to the battle.

Teammates from Odessa Academy include Mahiru Shigure, who has always attended all-girls school and has weird ideas about boys, and net addict Keiko Sano.

Other newly previewed mecha include the Ez-SR Intruder, Ez-SR Eliminator and Ez-SR Shadow Phantom

Also newly introduced are the Seiho Academy's Plamo Club's Daiki Miyaga and Eri Shinoda, who attempt to recreate lead Fumina Hoshino away from the Gunpla Battle Club

The series will be streaming on platforms including Gundam Info, Docomo Anime, Video Pass and Hulu.

In less positive news, while the beloved Ral-san is slated to be featured in the anime, the series site has posted that 66 year voice actor Masahiro Hirose has had to be admitted to the hospital for an extended stay and wished him well in recovery.

Gundam Voice Actor Masashi Hirose Hospitalized

The Gundam Build Fighters Try anime's website announced on Wednesday that voice actor Masashi Hirose is being hospitalized for an extended stay, to treat an unspecified illness. The announcement offers a prayer for his quick recovery. His agency Production baobab posted a similar announcement.

In both Gundam Build Fighters and its Try sequel, Hirose plays the Gundam plastic model expert Ral-san — a name reference to arguably his most famous role, the pilot Ramba Ral in the first Mobile Suit Gundam series and movie trilogy. He also played Ramba Ral in many spinoff anime and game projects, as well as supporting roles in other Gundam projects. The Gundam Build Fighters Try website's announcement does not specify what will happen to Hirose's role in the anime, which will premiere on October 8.

In other anime, he played the sumo wrestler Rikishiman in the Kinnikuman franchise, Hideyoshi Ushiromiya in Umineko When They Cry, Soichi Ayukawa in Basquash!, Professor Tange in Honey and Clover, Kan Yu in Armored Trooper Votoms, Cole in Taiyou no Kiba Dougram, and Riku Dold III in One Piece.

2nd TV Series Gundam Build Fighters Try Slated for October 2014

The official site for the Gundam Build Fighters anime series is today updated as that for the upcoming sequel Gundam Build Fighters Try with a key visual featuring the three main characters: Kamiki Sekai, Kousaka Yuuma, Hoshino Fumina, and main staff, voice cast, its story background.

The 25-episode 1st TV series was aired in Japan from October 7, 2013, to March 31, 2014. Thanks to the story featuring many popular mobile suits from the successive Gundam series, it pushed the sales of Bandai's Gunpla (Gundam model kits) greatly, so the expectation for the 2nd series is very high.

The story of Gundam Build Fighters Try is set 7 years after the end of the 1st series, when Iori Sei and Reiji won the 7th Gunpla Battle World Championships. Now Seiho Academy's Gunpla Battle Club has only one member, Hoshino Fumina, who is a third grade student in junior high. As the president of the club, she needs two more members to participate in the upcoming All-Japan Gunpla Battle Championships. Oneday she encounters a transfer student named Kamiki Sekai, who has traveled around for Kenpo training with his master. Then joining by a young Gunpla builder Kousaka Yuuma, their challenge to the Gunpla Battle begins....

This week weekend the Twitter feed for for fall's season season of Gundam Build Fighters announced that a big update to the series' site will go online Thursday, July 17th, also the suggesting that they'll be revealing the mecha who silhouetted in the teaser visual.

 

In the meantime, they've continued to post new illustrations from the mecha design team's plans.
