HGIBO 1/144 Graze Kai II (Ryusei-go) - Review

Today I'm gonna review on this kit, Iron Blooded Orphans High Grade Graze Custom II also known as Ryusei-go. At first look of this kit, it has got 9 runners and 1 sets of polycap.

Color of this kit straight out of the box looks fantastic, to me the color proportion for this kit is great.

Overall Looks: 10/10
Pardon me for 1 thing before doing this review, This kit looks so good that I wanted to do some put on some decal on it. I mean, as a Gunpla Builder, every once in a while you would wanna put on some nice decal and things like that to custom your gundam.

Panel lining definitely bring out the feeling of this kit. Usually to me, dark colored kit I wouldn't really recommend to panel line it as it doesn't really make a difference. But this kit, totally worth doing the work. Though I wish that they would give some panel lining for Ryusei-go's eyes so I can paint it instead of using the sticker, but sticker will do.

If you own a Graze Kai, you will realize that there is more than changing the mobile suit into red, well I'm not that observant when I was watching the anime, but I realise the difference in part seems to look so much better compare to the graze. If you didn't realize the difference, here are a few new parts included in the gunpla.
the new shoulder part.
The new Antenna thingy I guess?
The back thruster remain the same but that new back skirt though.

Accessories 8/10
And again, I'm quite surprise to see the new weapon which is the short rifle as also I didn't realise in the anime. I thought it was the same 2 rifle at first but i was wrong. Interesting additional but still looks plain as hell. Though I give credit to the new short rifle, Interesting design.

Articulation 7/10
Articulation on this kit is so so as it there is a few problem i faced while posing this kit. But lets get it to the normal articulation 1st,
Splits is not bad as it goes around 150 degree with no effort at all.
legs have no problem going 170 degree bend but you will get it in a awkward angle when you do it, hands go around 100 degree cant bend more than that after. Here comes my main issue to this product. As the leg can go 170 degree bend, the leg rotation isn't really that good as the kit can't rotate due to the skirt armor blocking.
Blocked ><|||

Well posing it is still fun despite the fact of the leg can't move a lot due the skirt armor.

Fun Fact:
In the box after building the whole Graze Kai II, They still give you the choice to build the Graze Kai I.
Armor pieces for Graze Kai I in red.

They also give an attachment for the leg part to connect to the Long Distance Transport Booster Kutan Type III.
Attachment for the leg section.
After attaching it to the Ryusei-go, this is the result you will get.

Like all Graze, The Ryusei-go is also equipped with the ugly camera like thingy.
well it's a personal preference, some may find it unique but not me.

Verdict:

Pros
  • Good color accuracy
  • Looks good straight out of the box
  • Looks good for posing
  • Given some extra armor parts.
  • Reasonable price
Cons
  • Weapon looks slightly plain
  • Leg rotation not so good due to the skirt armor
  • Can't hold the axe properly as the grip not good enough
Note: Review of this kit is based on my own personal preference.

HGIBO 1/144 Grimgerde - Review

Among so many HG Gundam Model Kit in Iron Blooded Orphans, Grimgerde is a very interesting kit, as it looks like Graze but its not a Graze and It is also not a Gundam too. So I've decided to review this kit myself to see how special this kit is compare to the Graze.

Outlooks: 9/10
The look of this this kit is definitely fantastic straight out of the box with some minor panel lining. It is so close to getting a 10/10 to me because of the grey part of the shield section. They just gave us a red piece of plastic

I've paint it with Gundam Real Touch marker to cover up the red section (Sorry didn't do a good job painting there ><), but I think bandai could have just give 2 extra piece of grey plastic to cover it up.But Overall it looks fantastic.

Accessories: 9/10

Other than the complain on the shield should have given 2 extra plastic piece instead of sticker, the accessories that comes with it is totally awesome! Personally I would paint up those lousy gold plastic that is given by bandai to metallic gold, but this gold looks good as it is. It gives the Orange-ish and yellow-ish vibe to it to me somehow.

My complain to this sword is just that the attachment at the end of the sword that stick up to the shield... is quite loose. Ever so slightly, moving it around the shield keep falling apart. putting them back is a little annoying. Even though I personally don't remember Grimgerde in the anime holding a gun, but he sure looks good with this gun.

Yea, that good looks totally badass on him.

Articulation: 8/10

Standard to most high grade now, the Grimgerde has got a double jointed knee and elbow. Gives it a good 160 to 170 degree bend on the knee and elbow.

Sadly the Grimgerde can't do a full split like the Barbatos, But even without it's 90 degree split, it still looks darn good. Wrist on a ball joint, does a very good wrist rotation, ankle is on a ball joint too, can to rotate and pull down around 30 degrees. Interesting thing about IBO model kit is their ab crunch, they does it very well that u can move up and down freely due to their innerframe shape. Head is also on a ball joint, rotates very well and freely. There is one problem i face with this kit so far, which is the polycap joint for the waist section. It is so damn frustrating as the every time I fiddle around with this kit, the body and waist section fall off due to the polycap stuck deeper n deeper inside the waist section. Other than that it's good to go.

Fun Fact:
Like most Graze, Grimgerde's face also can be open up to show the camera like thing there.

Posing:

Verdict:
Pros

  • Looks fantastic straight out of the box
  • Colors of this kit quite spot on
  • Good Articulation
  • Fun accessories
  • Reasonable price
  • Good amount of panel lining
Cons

  • The poor grip on the Waist section, keep falling apart
  • color separation on the shield, giving sticker instead of a grey plastic piece
  • Head camera, hard to separate.
Overall it's a Fantastic Kit hands down.

Gao Gao Mechanical Chain Base - Review

Hi Gunpla Fans, today I'm gonna review the Mechanical Nest by Gao Gao.
Honestly speaking, to me it is a great kit to buy if you are not so good in making a diorama base or you are a total beginner.

Let's begin with the Review
Outlook: 8/10
It is definitely a good looking diorama base to me, but no matter what it definitely look better if you paint the kit up a little to give it a realistic vibe.

Though I love this kit a lot, I don't really like the instruction on this kit. Well, I may be picky or fussy but reading instruction i prefer the instruction in a booklet or liftlet but they gave us this instead..
Despite the instruction give out a easy to read instruction, I'm not a fan of reading instruction on the box.

Accessories:
We are given a weapon carrier? and some hooks to put weapon on the rack.

After trying out this few accessories it actually feets quite well with those long weapons such as bazooka or tri-star zaku ortega big axe. It can fit rifles and shield as well.

Fun Fact:
You can actually use those hook and put it in the attachment on the floor, something like this.

Verdict:
Pros
  • It looks good as it is out of the box
  • Easy to understand instruction manual
  • Cheap and affordable
  • Great Details on the floor and walls
  • Great for taking photos
Cons
  • Plastic material is a little soft hence the parts are quite fragile
  • Though it is an easy to understand instruction manual it is lazy of them to put it on the box instead of a booklet or liftlet
  • Paint needed for realistic looks
Here are a few pictures taken using the gao gao mechanical display base(note the photo is editted):
