Gundam Fake Statue strikes back with changes

The orange statue with a striking resemblance to Sunrise's Gundam robotic mecha has reappeared with modifications in a photograph posted by a Twitter user named "otoutosama."
Floraland (Chengdu Guosetianxiang), an amusement park in the central Chinese province of Sichuan, had erected the statue last year, and then insisted that it was "not an imitation but an original [design]. It is not an copy of Gundam, but a design we came up with."

A public relations representative added last December, "Since there are reports of similarities, we are currently working on modifications." Days later, the statue was suddenly removed, and park officials denied the existence of the statue to the news agency Agence France-Presse.
The park's website also removed the image of the statue from one of its pages.

I wrote how I would comment on the stand that comes with this kit so here it is.

Included in the box with the Kara Hobby Kit is this fancy stand. The base is rather unique and at first I had no idea why it was made that way. Now I do and I will explain. But first, let’s
look at the arm.

This is much like the normal Action Base from Bandai, although it lacks the extra support at the bottom. There’s a reason for that.

There is also a couple of pieces that can attach to the bottom to tilt the stand upwards.

Why do this? Well, it’s because this stand was designed so you could put a picture in the stand and have a Gundam posed above it.

The manual mentions postcards or pictures but it’s worth noting that a normal sized postcard wouldn’t fill the space. Bandai though to of this and included little plugs that you can put into the holes to hold the pic in place.

I was thinking of putting a pic of the 00 on the stand in the stand that holds the 00 to get some kind of trippy effect, similar to when you watch tv on the tv, but didn’t really have the time to print off photos. I am strapped for time these day.

I did manage to take some better shots of the kit, so check them out. If this stand intrigues you, well, you’re in luck because Bandai will be releasing it in March!

With that kit out of the way the focus is back on PGSF. Sweet.

HGFC Nobell Gundam Starto!

The HGFC G Gundam was my first experience with an HG kit and I loved it.  I was able to try out new techniques and the use of after-market parts and it was definitely less nerve wracking to do so on an HG rather than an MG.  Despite the enjoyment I had with the G Gundam I wasn’t really intrigued by the Nobell, mostly due to the feminine look.  Don’t get me wrong. I like the feminine look. On human females.  I keep my girls and my gundams separate.  I was actually going to pass on the kit but ended up with one in my possession after ASM and I purchased one for Buster and then found out he already had it.

The first thing I want to mention about this kit is that there are no poly-caps.  An HG with no poly-caps?!  but…?

Here’s a shot of the frame runner. All these parts will go together allowing the Nobell plenty of articulation without the need for poly-caps. I am intrigued.

This is the plastic piece that fits into the shoulder. Normally, this would be a poly-cap. Not on the Nobell, though.

Another interesting aspect of the Nobell is that there are quite a few small parts. In the past Bandai would use stickers to change the color of some parts of the kit, but here there is actually
separate parts on a different runner.

Quite unlike any gundam head I have assembled up to this point.

Looks kinda 80′s.

Here are the arms. You can see how simple the design is. But it works so well.

And the shoulders. Pretty standard fare. Except for the lack of poly-cap!

Bandai has been releasing their HGs with extra optional hands (Why don’t they do this with MG’s?!) and the Nobell, as you can see, comes with some unique hands.

Voila.

The top half is finished. So far, so good, so gunpla.

It’s the later part of the build that gets crazy. Such as…

Beam Ribbons…?
